MACHINE DE PLAISIR first had the working title "Meditation 2". This was step two of the meditation schedule, as briefly explained in the notes to disc seven, The Music Box.

The criteria which sceptics use to assess KS have nothing to do with music. With criterea like these you could "accuse" Edith Piaf of never having sung arias or Bach of never having used "blue notes". Unfortunately you often find similar and sometimes worse criticisms of KS, his records and concerts, in articles and reports. Whereas:

There is an inner truth and reality to his music that can't be assessed in musical terms - but the listeners can immediately tell the difference between what's true and what's false... or at least what's unusual, whats far removed from everydayness and mediocre half-measures.
