After
broadcasting the Rockpalast-Deutschrock documentary "Kraut
und Rüben", we received many inquiries from viewers asking
us when we would broadcast the full concerts of the groups
- abridged parts of which had been shown in the documentary
series. Although, except for very few cases, Rockpalast would
hardly ever have recorded any full-length concert, we nonetheless
found a lot of video material that is more or less complete
so that we decided to broadcast it in a total of 10 hours
spread over two evenings.
The videos cover the whole range of groups featured in the
documentary, ranging from the Scorpions and Tangerine Dream,
to Kraftwerk, Eloy, Ton Steine Scherben, Can, Guru Guru Amon
Düül II. In addition, we will also show a number of very rare
videos which we did not use in the documentary. Most of the
videos have not been seen on TV since their first and only
broadcast. We hope that in showing them, the collective term
"Krautrock" can finally be buried as useless (meaning: can
be dropped as being too general a term to account for the
diversity of the groups). |

Around a minute of this was shown
on WDR earlier in the year but here it is shown
in near entirety. Filmed live in Cologne's WDR Studio
on 13 January 1977 [According to 'KS-The Works']
with a small studio audience, it shows Schulze hunched
cross-legged in front of a mass of electronics and
keyboards. Great Schulze footage.
