Leonard Cohen
Casino de Montreux, Montreux, Switzerland
9th July 1985

An excellent quality & complete recording of the entire show running to just under 3 hours and 29 songs, originally simulcast on DRS3-FM Radio in Switzerland.

The performance is with the full addition of backing musicians; although they remain unintrusive and understated, resulting in a relaxed feel to the performance and some delightful instrumental soloing too. The recording seems to be unedited with much [if not all] of Cohen's song introductions left in the broadcast, a particularly amusing one being his recollection of his meeting with Janis Joplin at the Chelsea Hotel.

The set reads like a list of virtually all of Cohen's best songs to date and include all but two from his most recent album 'Various Positions', ending with a final rousing encore of 'Dance Me To The End Of Love'. Sound quality is excellent FM stereo.

Upgrade Feb 2006: This is an excellent off-air upgrade to the previous version. Previous version also ran slow. This upgrade is at the correct speed and also includes introductions at beginning of the broadcast. A really excellent recording.
