This is a great show. The only downside is that Eric does not
get many chances to strut his stuff. There is a great (and otherwise
unheard) Clapton solo at the end of The Gunner's Dream and that's
really it for Eric. In my opinion it could have been anyone playing
the guitar as the legendary EC was just "sorta there". That notwithstanding
this is a great show as Pros & Cons is much better done live.
The sound is really good and I highly recommend this show. I have
heard this was by Roger's design and Mr. Clapton was told to stay
with the program so the music would stay in sync to the visuals.
If Eric went off on a tangent, then the song would not be in line
with the visuals. For someone who liked to improvise as much as
Clapton, this must have been a tad frustrating. (Notes from Luis
website).
The quality of this recording is really superb. If it wasn't for
the occasional knocking of the microphones I would have thought
this was almost good enough to be from a soundboard.
