Disc One Notes:
First disc consists of the commercially available DSOTM Quad mix,
from very clean vinyl. Only the earliest moments of "Money" (starting
vinyl side 2) really give the source away. Sounds 10x better than
my own very clean import DSOTM Quad LP. Worth the price right
here. Rest of disc one is audio from the making of DSOTM section
of the "Pompeii" film. Essentially worthless unless you've never
seen/heard this before.
Disc: 1
1. Dark Side LP (complete) Quad mix
2. On the Run
3. Us & Them (Part I)
4. Eclipse
5. Us & Them (Part II)
6. Brain Damage
Disc Two Notes:
Second disc consists of an "alternate mix"
of DSOTM from a dubious and indistinct source. Sounds alot like
the regular Quad mix (wholly distinct from the common stereo),
but harsher, lots of raw top end and a few nasty tape hits. More
vinyl noise than on the first disc. Could be from an acetate?????
Same can be said for the "rough mixes" here. Money demo is lovely
and clean - tape source - but only 1:44. "Time" rough mix - minus
some key overdubs - is great, as are all the rest of these last
tracks, esp. great doodling guitar overdub (never used) on top
of "Brain Damage". Cover art comes from out of print 20th anniversary
DSOTM box. Superb on balance, save for rip-off "Pompeii" material.
Wets the appetite for a proper DSOTM retrospective box from the
band, themselves. Official CD versions of the records are well
overdue.
Disc: 2
1. Dark Side LP (complete) Alternate Mix
2. Money (acoustic demo)
3. Time (rough mix)
4. Brain Damage (rough mix)
5. Eclipse (rough mix)
6. Us & Them (rough mix)
