On
the 5th December 2003, I went into hospital for a Mitral Valve
Repair Heart Operation, involving
Open-Heart Surgery. One Week later I returned home, the operation being
a complete success, but it will take three months to make a complete recovery.

My name is Nigel Bradder, and I was born in 1954. I first discovered that I had a minor Heart Murmur in the course of having a Medical examination in relation to updating a Critical Illness insurance policy, when I used to be a Contractor operating as a One-Man Limited Company. Lots of people have Heart Murmurs, and can generally lead perfectly normal lives without having any problems. What was required, was to see a specialist at regular (eg Yearly) intervals to make sure that if any corrective surgery is required, that it is carried out before any irreparable damage takes place to the heart. There comes a time when you are told that it is in your best interests to have corrective surgery before conditions get to the point of serious irreparable damage to the heart. If I don't go through with this operation, the condition will only get worse, and eventually the heart will cease to function correctly. I have come to terms with this operation, in the view that it's the right thing to do. If you wish to contact me, here's my email address: nigelsheartop@onwebnow.co.uk |
